The Quiet Christian Movement encompasses the wounded as well as those with privilege who live humbly, and all of us walking with grace, love and compassion. This ministry embraces those silenced, rejected, reconciling, or discriminated against by scripture, religion, policies and institutions, and those seeking for belief beyond self. Our community also includes those identifying as spiritual and outside of any label.

“Quiet Christian” Movement takes root at First-Plymouth

A new ministry at First-Plymouth seeks to build a bridge of grace and compassion for those who have felt rejected, discriminated against or silenced, as well as for those who have not experienced such oppression but live humbly and with love in their hearts.

“Though both are on the same path of quiet Christianity, both have much to learn from each other,” said pastor Lisa Borchardt, who is founding the movement at First-Plymouth this fall.

“The Quiet Christian Movement encompasses the wounded as well as those with privilege who live humbly, and all of us walking with grace, love and compassion.  When I think of The Quiet Christian I think of those more introverted and quiet individuals who do not need the pomp and circumstance in worship or life in order to fully embrace their deep sense of Christianity. When I think of The Quiet Christian I feel calm, internalize peace, experience nature and humility,” Borchardt said.

Borchardt said that through her 28 years of service as a social worker led her to want to focus on those silenced, rejected or discriminated against by scripture, religion, policies and institutions, and seeking for belief beyond self.

“The Quiet Christian is someone who is living their faith humbly and is living with love and compassion.”
