Classical Vocal Quartet

New York Polyphony is one of the foremost vocal chamber ensembles active today. The four men give vibrant, modern voice to repertoire ranging from Gregorian chant to cutting-edge compositions. Two-time GRAMMY nominated New York Polyphony will perform one of their new commissioned works, Missa Charles Darwin. A multi-movement mass written by Gregory W. Brown based on the standard five-movement structure of a Mass that honors the compositional and harmonic conventions of its musical antecedents, but unlike traditional settings, the sacred texts have been replaced with excerpts from On The Origin of Species, The Descent of Man, and Darwin’s extant correspondence.

“If I had my life to live over again, I would have made a rule to read some poetry and listen to some music at least once every week.”
— Charles Darwin
