Join together to hear the stories of First-Plymouth members who are making a difference in our community and the world.  Learn how you can make a difference!

Oct 3:  Tim Shaw, Hunger and Bread for the World

We can end hunger. But charity, food drives, and backpacks can’t do it all. Our government must also do its part.  Bread for the World is a collective Christian voice urging our nation’s decision makers to end hunger at home and abroad.

Tim Shaw is a retired attorney and invested his career in creating opportunities for dignity, equality and empowerment in the lives of vulnerable people in our community


Oct 10:  Lee Ann Heflebower, Homelessness

Across Lincoln every night, hundreds of individuals and families worry about where they will sleep. Learn about the face of homelessness in our community, initiatives to address the issue, and what you can do to help.

Lee Ann Heflebower, Director of Housing & Supported Living at Region V Systems and past-Chair of the Lincoln Homeless Coalition, has spent over 25 years moving people from homelessness to housing.


Oct 17:  Ken Winston, Interfaith Power and Light

Ways to take action on climate change by reducing energy needs, including programs intended to help lower-income Nebraskans.

Ken Winston is the Policy and Outreach Director for Nebraska Interfaith Power and Light, a long-time advocate for Mother Earth and lover of good music.


Oct 24:  Kathy Ward, Medicaid Expansion

The many benefits of Medicaid Expansion will be discussed, including increasing preventive care, saving lives, reducing medical bankruptcies, rescuing rural hospitals, and contributing to the state’s economy. 

Kathy Ward is retired from a 35-year career in public health, during which she administered a number of cancer and chronic disease programs, including Every Woman Matters
