Debi Smith

Debi was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She spent two decades working in various disciplines as a professional photographer. Debi has received both her B.A. in 2000 and then an M.A. in 2003 in the sculpture discipline from California State University, Northridge. In 2006 she moved to Lincoln, Nebraska with her partner of 10 years and their daughter. Debi currently teaches Art Appreciation, Art History and Ceramics at Southeast Community College.

"My art is a celebration of womanhood, courage diversity and empowerment. I believe that mere tolerance is not the answer for most of humankind's problems. We need to infuse a new way of thinking and behaving in order to have a rebirthing which I believe most of us innately crave."
