Rev. Barbara Smisek
A native of Weeping Water, NE, Barbara is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Omaha and Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City where she received her MA in Religious Studies. Prior to her vocation as a minister, Barb worked as a banker for more than 20 years, her last three as president of Home State Bank in Louisville, NE.
Called to ministry, Barbara became a licensed UCC minister in 1996 and served five years as associate minister for First Congregational Church, UCC, her hometown church. She joined First-Plymouth as an associate minister in 2005 and was ordained in 2007 after completion of her seminary training. Barb's primary responsibilities at First-Plymouth include pastoral care, Stephen Ministry and the Christian Board of Outreach. She is especially passionate about mission work both local and international.
Barbara and her husband Todd, a John Deere sales manager in Syracuse, Nebraska, have three daughters and are proud grandparents. Barb's greatest joy is spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters. She also enjoys dancing with her husband Todd, theater and playing piano.
