The Board for Women's Ministries

pictureThe purpose of the Board for Women's Ministries is to provide the women of First-Plymouth Church opportunities to develop relationships with one another, and opportunities for spiritual growth and support; to educate about and to advocate for (when appropriate), the needs of women, children and families; and to provide support and service to individuals and organizations which advance opportunities for women and/or serve women with needs. The Board also works with and supports, along with other boards and committees, the ongoing projects and programs of First-Plymouth Church. We believe ... that we are called as created beings to be visible witnesses to our creator's presence in the world through the unique witness of women.

We are committed ... to ministries with women in our church, in our community, and in our world.

We act ... through education, advocacy, celebration and outreach.

Spirituality - Retreats

The Board traditionally plans two retreats for women each year. Other retreats may also be considered, planned, or implemented by the Board from time to time.

Outreach and Nurture

Outreach: Each year the Board determines specific programs within the community to support financially and with hands-on assistance.

Scholarships: Scholarships are awarded each year to three non-traditional women students who face educational challenges. Applications are received by March 31st and reviewed by the end of May.

Loaves and Fishes: Loaves and Fishes is a project which matches up willing volunteers who will prepare meals to be frozen and delivered to individuals or families in need of a prepared meal due to illness, birth of a new child, death in the family or other household crises.
