Pipe organs at First-Plymouth Church, UCC

The Lied Chancel Organ

Chancel Display/Apse area, page 1

Support structure for the chancel display. The four vertical upright beams go down through the nave floor to the gymnasium in photo below.  Photo taken shortly after the support structure was built.

The blower and other mechanical will be located here. The four vertical upright beams have been placed on footings that are buried approximately 20 feet under the gym floor on bedrock. This has essentially created a "building within a building" for the new organ. The structure will be completely independent of the church building for support.

The apse area on 2/7/98 cleaned up after another dusty week.  Our custodians, Gary, Tom and Jerry have been superb at cleaning before the Saturday and Sunday worship services.  Often they are called upon to clean during the week for funerals so the hours they have put in on this project have been long and hard.  Dr. Young, in one of his Sunday updates on the organ thanked the congregation also for taking some of the dust home after sitting on the pew cushions.
