Youth group at First-Plymouth includes Bible study, sermon discussion, service to the church and community, social and sports activities and music programs (both instrumental and vocal). Youth group for 6th through 8th graders meets every Wednesday night from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Our goal is to provide all youth a safe space to talk about and discuss the topics and experiences that pertain to them and where they are on life’s journey. All youth are welcomed and encouraged to participate fully and embrace the inclusive and accepting spirit of Youth Ministries at First-Plymouth. Below is a listing of the activities that the Youth are currently involved in at First-Plymouth.
Wednesday Nights – Every Wednesday night from 6:30 – 7:30 pm youth in grades 6th through 8th are invited to spend the evening playing games, interacting with peers, engaging in discussions and asking questions. We offer a variety of events and activities ranging from badminton tournaments, toe painting and dodgeball to lock ins and a spring retreat. Lessons vary weekly, covering topics such as individuality, peer pressure, faith in action and spirituality. Come join the fun every Wednesday Night, all 6th – 8th graders are welcome.
Retreat - Each spring youth participate in a retreat at the Carol Joy Holling Retreat Center. Youth will experience a variety of individual and team challenges and excitement in a controlled, safe environment with trained and certified facilitators. The center’s philosophy of “challenge by choice” allows participants to choose their own challenges while giving them opportunities to do things they may never have thought possible.
Sunday Discussions –
9:00 am Service: Youth in grades 6th – 12th worship for the entire service on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month. On the 1st, 3rd and 5th Sunday’s of the month, youth will worship together through the sermon in the balcony, then go with Mitch Connelly for a short discussion in Pilgrim Hall.
10:30 am Service: Youth in grades 6th - 7th worship together through the sermon in the balcony then meet with an instructor for a short discussion in Pilgrim Hall.
Church and Community Service - Youth help in a variety of church activities including:

Acolytes - Junior high youth lead the processional and light the Christ candles at both Sunday morning services.

Christmas Eve 5:00 p.m. - This service is arranged and led entirely by junior and senior high youth and includes readings from the Gospel, youth orchestra and choir.

Easter Processional - Youth lead the long-standing traditional Easter processional with banners and candles at each service.
