Blessing of the Athletes
Saturday, May 4, 5:30pm, Sanctuary at First-Plymouth Congregational Church (2000 D Street)
Open to all marathon athletes, volunteers, and participants and their families. All Faiths are welcome.
A marathon represents the personal triumph of the human spirit; overcoming adversity and being alongside others who are pushing themselves to new frontiers.
First-Plymouth will offer an ecumenical “blessing of the athletes” ceremony, based on the Boston Marathon’s Blessing ceremony, to honor all the level of runners participating in the Lincoln Marathon. This brief service will be filled with inspirational music and positivity.
But the spirit of triumph and endurance applies to everyone, so this special service of blessing and inspiration is not to be missed by non-runners as well.
