The Faithful Fight:
How to Work for a Just World and Tend Your Soul at the Same Time
with Rev. Kim Morrow
Wed. March 8th – April 5th, 6:30-7:30pm
Many people feel a sense of overwhelm at the many painful issues facing our society. Issues like income inequality, racism, sexism, climate change, xenophobia, political instability and extreme polarization can seem too big to fix. In this class we will take a step back to look at four great faith-based social justice leaders to see how their faith sustained them to work for the world they believed God promised. We will look at the difficult circumstances that lay before Gandhi, Dorothy Day, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and Martin Luther King, Jr., and examine how they built powerful movements that created lasting change. We will explore ways we can nurture ourselves for the long journey with spiritual practice, and we will contemplate the social justice actions each of us wish to take on with joy, faith and perseverance. Sponsored by the Peace & Justice Team.
